The bachelor party is an opportunity to go all out, be wild, relive the fun and abandon of youth - but be sure to set boundaries on a case-by-case basis!

Planning a bachelor party for a groom-to-be is a time honoured tradition normally offered to the fellow who has been chosen as the best man, and should be tailored to fit the needs of each individual groom. Whether it be the stereotypical night at an exotic dance club with plenty of beer, cocktails, and spirits or perhaps something a little more reserved or conservative it is extremely important to gauge the comfort level of both the groom and his bride in waiting.

The bachelor party is really a celebration of manhood in many ways – it is an exercise in virility and excess that is meant to really shake a fellow loose before committing to a lifelong relationship. There are a few different ways to celebrate, however, depending on the disposition of the man of the evening.

One rule that never changes is to make sure that the bachelor party is at least two days prior to the wedding ceremony. The bride will be extremely cross with you if you bring her groom to the altar reeking of whiskey and cigars.

The Reserved Approach

For gents who may not especially appreciate female escorts or exotic dancers appearing either at their homes or at at gentleman's club – it may be necessary to be a little more unorthodox in one's approach to planning the party.

A nice meal at a pub is an excellent way to begin the evening; Not only does this allow the bachelor party to get a good meal in their bellies but it also allows for social drinking, or even the beginnings of a real tear. The social atmosphere of a pub is unpretentious and generally fairly masculine, so it will suit the bill just perfectly.

After the meal has been cleared away it might be time to consider moving on to a house party – if you don't plan on making it to a club it will save you a great deal of money and will allow for video games, sports events on the big screen, and plenty of music. If one has access to a local band or plays an instrument themselves, live music would be an excellent companion for a house party.

Other activities that might befit a daytime bachelor party would be paintball, skydiving, parasailing, or any other extreme sport – it brings the mates together and involves people in new, exciting activities!

Going Hog Wild

In more liberal relationships, the stereotypical approach to the bachelor party may not be too far from the mark. When hiring escort services or dancers, ensure you are dealing with a reputable company. Above all else, do not hire personal friends or acquaintances for this type of show – hurt feelings and extremely inappropriate Facebook pictures can result. To avoid unnecessary entanglements, this sort of business is best left to professionals.

It should be noted that the groom should be watched by members of the bachelor party for the entirety of the evening. It is unwise to allow the groom to become too involved with the escorts, or to drunkenly dial the bride – this event is gender-specific for a reason, and privacy and sensibility is still paramount.

In buying beer and spirits, it is recommended to do the great majority of your drinking beforehand – it is much cheaper to buy alcohol at the store or from the local commission than it is to purchase it at 200% or greater markup from the bar.

Above all else, ensure that people do not drive while intoxicated and that a designated driver or, at the very least, taxis are provided at the end of the night's festivities. Responsibility does not disappear entirely for this particular evening, for the groom, the best man, or any of the fellows involved in the bachelor party!

A Few Choice Words

The bachelor party is a fairly masculine ceremony devoted to the novel idea of having one last hurrah before entering the lifelong commitment that is marriage. As such, it is supremely important to not let things get too far out of hand during any activities – particularly when it comes to vice and temptation. As such, it is the duty of the best man to ensure that your groom shows up ready and welcome to the altar – so always be wary and keep an eye on what is happening!

Conducted in a safe and responsible manner, the bachelor party can be a lot of fun no matter which avenue you choose to take in planning it. Remember, as long as you have a crew of great friends and don't do anything terrible foolish or incriminating you will be just fine – participating in an age old tradition of revelry and excess that will always, or never, be remembered!
